S E V E N D A Y S L E F T until Finissage of Unstable Equilibriums! Come by next Saturday, meet the artists, they will give a tour and hold Q&A. Use the opportunity, let's hang out!![]()
*Unstable Equilibrium* is a concept from the field of physics and describes a state of equilibrium of a body that moves further away from its original position when slightly displaced. Instability, transformation and movement are common themes and focal points of the three artists Mirsini Artakianou, Michal Fuchs and Katharina Gahlert Nd is curated by Silvia Gaetti.![]()
Their works negotiate in different ways questions about transforming identities, migration, inner and outer landscapes, as well as the relationship between humans and nature in times of the Anthropocene. Self-consciously, they demand space, they create surfaces of encounter and fields of tension with each other and with the viewers. Materiality plays an important role in their work: from thin thread to solid concrete – each of the selected raw materials is skillfully used and reflected.![]()
The exhibition brings the three artistic positions together and relates them to each other. Here, points of contact and exchange as well as contrasts are made visible. Process, ritual as well as tireless repetition are in the foreground: critically and consciously citing the perception of women* in the art world.![]()

🪨 The natural shape of the individual stones interacts to form patterns reminiscent of living structures. Soft and flowing like waves or feathers, the stone puzzles tell of non-visible connections and profound relationships.![]()

The Pine Tree Desert by Michal Fuchs.![]()

The needles for this work come from an unusually large Aleppo pine tree that stands on the green line (the 1949 demarcation line) between the Palestinian village of al-Walaja and the Israeli settlement of Gilo. It is called "Ha El" (the God) by the local residents. Its falling needles prevent other plants from growing - a condition called "Midbar haOranim" (Pine Tree Desert). The text half-obscured by the needles is part of Israel's Declaration of Independence.![]()
The artwork was funded by the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation.![]()

🐚 Listening to Shells 🐚 by Katharina Gahlert![]()
🐚 In the dialogue between fragile forms, toxic plastic and the ancient sediment of lignite, the ambivalent relationships between man and nature, reverence and destruction, dependence and domination become visible. The reference to geological periods of time far beyond our imagination illustrates the sometimes unmanageable entanglements between human actions and the matter of our environment.![]()
